Gen 3 emergency flasher light bulb replacement

I need to replace the light bulb in the emergency flashers on my 94. I've done a search but can't find anything on this.

First, does anybody know what the proper bulb is?

Second, has anybody done this? I assume I will have to remove the flasher unit from the rear of the dash, or is there some way to access the unit from the front without damaging the unit or the panel? Does anybody have pictures of the rear of the flasher unit so I can see if it's screwed in to the dash from the rear or if it's clipped in?

I remember a DIY on removing the cluster panel around the dash (Toyota calls it the Cluster Finish Panel), but I have searched and can't find one. Any help with that would be gereatly appreciated. A DIY with pictures would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

Ali,

I considered that, but the ducts for the heat and A/C would still be in the way.

Has anybody else done this job?

Just in case anyone is looking for some help with this in the future, the following link for the cluster "D" bulb repalcement shows how to get to those bulbs and the back of the cluster. It was the DIY I was originally thinking about.

Just as an FYI, I replaced the bulb today. It was a special order from the dealer as it comes with the plastic base. (The part number for my 94 is 84999-10320 and lists for $8.69.) This was a real easy job using the above link. You don't even have to remove the electrical connectors to the "Cluster Finish Panel". Just pop out the U-shaped radio trim piece and remove the 4 screws referenced in the above thread and pop the cluster panel out just a bit. I used a j-hook tool for poping out both panels. Then you should be able to see the emergency flasher unit from above. The bulb and base are right on the top of this unit. They face downward. Use a small slotted screwdriver and turn the base counterclockwise about 1/4 - to 1/3 of a turn. The base and bulb can then be pulled out from the top, Replace with the new base and bulb and turn it back clockwise. Now pop back in the Cluster Finish Panel, replace the 4 screws (they are identical) and then pop back in the U-shaped panel around the radio. This whole job shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes going slowly to make sure you don't scratch anything.
