How much has your mileage improved? Any precise measurements or are you going by feel?

I assume that you have an automatic transmission. Have you noticed a difference in your shifts or in your RPM? Steadier RPM generally gives good mileage.

I adjusted in the engine bay ,,tighten and reajusted the nuts..there was about 1/2 to 1 inch inch slack....there is virtually no slack now,,my mileage went from about 18mpg to now 24-25mpg same gas..same routes,,acceleration is quicker, same idle rpms

hmm. are you sure you adjusted the accelerator cable and not the transmission kick-down cable ? they are both sort of interconnected to each other by a throttle linkage.

check this DIY thread for pics of what i'm talking about:

I verified that it was the accelerator cable by revving the engine afterwards from the engine bay
