3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I picked up everything I do believe i need for a "complete" timing belt job. Unfortanately, I saw the ebay kits after I bought everything at the Toyota dealership, but at least everything is a well trusted brand. There are not too many places to buy parts from over here. There is the toyota dealerships or a middle man through a middle man, which will cost more money. Or you can find stuff on the internet. Speaking of which, someone through me some websites for Toyota parts please.
Well, with the parts listed below, please let me know if there is anything else I should get while I am doing the job. This will all be going on my 97 Camry with a 4s (yes 4s) engine. I have already read through the timing belt change DIY's for the 3s and 5s engine. Thank you to the individuals who did time the time out to post them. They are definately usefull, and full of pics.
Timing belt
acc belts
camshaft seal
crankshaft seal
oil pump seal and oring
Tstat
Water Pump ass
idler pully
Spring
Tensioner
And if there is any caution, warning, or useful tips that anyone else knows, please let me know too. Thank you in advance for you help.

Reason: more pics
This is a Japanese Camry, 100% made in Japan for Japan. If you look at my location, I am in Okinawa Japan now. Let me know if you all are looking for parts here.
well yeah i got that, im jsut surprised how it looks NOTHING like the camry here yet wares teh same name. question though. Camry Gracia, i had a bumper from a camry gracia and it looked just like a typical us gen4 camry but a wagon. was it just that car that looked like that? yours is a 97 too but look totally different.
I have not seen a Camry Gracia over here, so I cant help you out. There are so many Toyota models here that look like a Camry that it would make your eyeballs popout. My neighbor has a Toyota ED and the other one has a Toyota MKII. There are alot of Toyota Windom's here which are a type of Lexus in the States. I should just take pics of Toyota and there engines for you all.
When cars over here come out they usually take about 2-4 years before they hit the states. So if there is an equilvalent from here to the States then a 99 could be a 01-04 in the States. Kinda weird when you are getting parts for home.
Thanks for the tips and I did read that thread before. That does seem like a good idea to help when setting the cam to time.
^^^^This is not a crown, there are Toyota Crowns here, but this is a Camry. Here is a pic of the back for you all. Now, I will have to explain the dents/smashed in area. My wife sucks at parking,,,or backing up,,,,or driving.
I actually think the Jap. version looks way better than the USDM Myself
There are some SV40s here in NZ. 2 of those around the area are slammed with JDM 17s on. Honestly, they look really good! The good thing about the SV40/SV41s is that they're lightweight at 1170 to 1190 kg! The 4SFE + that weight brings out 7.8 L/ 100 km! That is very good fuel consumption for its age. Why haven't I thought of getting an SV40 before? Anyway, if I would choose a Camry sedan I might get an SV instead of an SXV due to weight concerns.

Question....... any parts for my wagon? Like a scepter lip kit(has to be for the wagon)? Or the scepter wagon wing/spoiler?
^Yap that would be nice. If you have access to DOLPHIN body kits for the Scepter, that would really be sweet even though there is a huge chance that the kit might be discontinued already.
