3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Im looking to do something more to my car (1992 camry V6 3vz-fe auto) i have already done a few minor thing such as a 2.5" straight exhaust, 16x7.5 with 205.55.16 tires and i also have a Tenzo air filter.
im open to anything you guys recommend wither they are long projects or simple tuning things.
Check over the DIY. You can do a simple home-tune on the 3vz-fe and get an extra 10-hp.

5-speed
turbo
coilovers
rear anti-sway bar
front strut bar
cold air intake to stick that Tenzo filter on
Depo clear headlights w/ HID projector retrofit
S2K antenna conversion
RMM front lip (painted to match the car)
35% tint all around
That should keep you busy for a little bit. If you need even more to do build the internals of the engine and tranny (along with a huge turbo) and try to beat TonyTheTiger's whp numbers.

3vz stock internals are good for 350whp. Upgrade the pistons for forged ones and your good for 450whp. MAYBE closer to 500whp on a good tune and the right supporting mods. Stock forged internals (minus the pistons) do the 3vz a world of good.

yea my main goal for it is to swap to the 5speed once i finish schooling and actually kno how to do all that stuff. wat would u guys say it the best thing to do for a beginner. i was thinking the cold air but i dont kno how to go about that and 95pimping i dont think the RMM lip would fit on my 92 (from what i read)
There are plenty of threads on intake builds...everything from epic fails to epic wins....I would say start with that....and a good cleaning of your engine bay to become familiar w/ your car/engine....then eventually start replacing things that need to be fixed (ie. tune up)....as I am sure it needs something....they always do and take it from there....slowly but surely u will feel better about modding...everyone had to start somewhere....and good luck with whatever you decide to do

Yup. Start with simple intake/exhaust mods if you're gonna do anything. Get familiarized with the ideas of modding. Soon you'll be doing engine/trans swaps in only a day, and then you'll be fiberglassing your own body kit! I mean...whoops...did I just leak that?
Exactly. I just decided I wanted to do a full suspension swap one day after doing a bunch of oil changes, a radiator replacement, and cold air intakes. Sure it took me 18 hours, but you learn. I'm ready for an engine/tranny swap.
