Who makes two piece or Euro style rotors for a Camry?

Have hit a major speedbump in the easy conversion to a carbon brake kit - I can't find a suitable hat that will fit the 5 X 4.5 lug pattern for our Camrys (you'd think it would be a popular size). I keep finding hats that might have the lug pattern, but don't have the correct rotor bolt mounting diameter.
BMW M3 hats ALMOST work perfectly, but for a braking system I don't want to compromise anywhere

For this to work, and work cheaply, I need four things to line up:

1. 5 X 114.3 (4.5") lug bolt pattern
2. Correct hat offset (Front = 1-2" offset; Rear = .5-1.5" offset) - this is somewhat vairable
3. Rotor mount flange diameter of 6.75" between opposite bolts
4. 10-bolt rotor mounting

There are many options out there, from sprint cars, NASCAR short and long tracks, drag cars, funny cars, etc that have a WIDE variety of measurements, but the only possible thing I see that MIGHT fit is PERFORMANCE FRICTION PART NUMBER 167.651.346.12

http://www.performancefrictionbrakes...ails.php?id=11

However, at $300 or more PER HAT this is not going to be worth it for most if not all people on this forum!

I may have to sell the carbon rotors I have and look for an 8 or 12 bolt setup which is MUCH more common; AND the corresponding hats for those are cheaper and easier to find. Would like to have a T-bolt or bobbin setup as they allow more air to pass around the brake assembly making it cooler.

Any thoughts? Or do I need to invest in a shop lathe and start making these? Thanks for your input...

Couldn't you just take the BMW rotors and have a machine shop drill you holes in the rotor? The only thing there is it may take too much material off. You could always fill weld the stock BMW Holes to add strength. May be cheaper that way if you have a welder available. Just fill in those stock holes and have a machine shop make new holes 5x114.3 or whatever bolt pattern your car has

Not sure if you have a different bolt pattern since you are doing weight reduction modifications

The bolt pattern on my car is stock - and drilling new holes even after welding the BMW ones up may not work too well in a braking application.

Even if I were to get those M3 hats, they cost $210 apiece

Possibly I can find something in the parts yard, but I think all stock Bimmer rotors and hats are one-piece - may be WAY wrong though...

If I get a shop lathe I can just make whatever size I need, and then maybe contract someone else to make say, 20 or 30 of them and start putting together kits for fellow TN members...If I only had a real machine shop I would be in heaven!!!

The stock BMW rotors are one piece, so that wouldn't work anyways. The bolt patterns are 4x100 for most early beemers and 5x120 for the newer ones

Look around for auctions at machine shops that are closed down. You can bid on a lathe and possibly get it really cheap . then your in business. Just need to learn how to use it then. hehe

I know how to use a rotor / drum lathe, but that would be pointless for what your trying to do.

It seems you may have to go with a one off custom production rotor if you want to save some money (DIY Im speaking of).

Other than that its big bucks.

That's the trouble...for what I can spend on a set of two new custom hats I can likely buy a used lathe first and slowly get the right bits for the job.

Oh well - if I end up getting the lathe I will never be away from it and likely be single again, but then again I could also start making titanium rear links and supports . Maybe my girlfriend would change her tune if I retrofitted her Acura with some custom parts...

Yeah i still have no word from my buddy at his machine shop. I am still waiting for him to do the work on my motor. He got really busy down there and I told him to take his time. lol.

I gotta get down there and push him a little i guess

what I would say is that the only real benefit that you will gain from a two-piece rotor set will be seen (comparatively) if you have aluminum hats. if you still have regular steel hats, the weight savings would be pretty much negligible though you will get the cooling and flexible benefits

send a PM to tony and inquire about his set-up, because he was able to stumble upon a one-time opportunity for his front brakes (supra TT sized) two-piece aluminum hat rotors from a local source. he had mentioned that the were the last of a production line from a company, but for enough money, who knows what the company may be willing to produce again

the only unfortunate part if I remember correctly though, is that the prices are not any less than the ones that you have mentioned, so they are close to $3-400 a side
