3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
We at Extreme Dimensions are trying to determine if there is market for an OE style carbon fiber trunk for the 92-96 Camry. We have had some interest but it has been sporadic.
Is this something that you want? Let us know!!

I'm very interested, I just have my money going into other bodywork atm, I would defiantly pick one up before I get it sprayed though, depending on the price.
Honestly, after everything I've seen over the years, everyone one will say OMG YES I WANT ONE. However, the second it comes time for them to sell/ship out, 50% of those people will just disappear and not want one.
I'll be honest. I'd like one, but I don't have the money or the car. And this would be far from being in my list of top 20 mods.

Although there are obviously a lot of Camry owners, the serious problem with this community is cheap people. They want anything and everything but aren't willing to pay the price.
And Lynchburg is exactly right on this one. You guys should completely avoid 3rd Gen Camry's altogether; you're just going to waste a lot of time.
I didn't say AVOID! Having things available for our cars is GREAT. Just as a business, you have to realize it may take a while to get back your initial investment.

There's definitely not a huge market for these trunks, but at this point.. I either need a new trunk, or get it painted.. painting will cost almost as much already, so I might as well get one of these. Really depends on final price.. it'd be much easier to say no if you posted the price, because the idea sure is wanted by many.. the price, not so much.

We're working on the fesibility of doing so.

See above for an IDEA of pricing.

Bite your tongue!!! Personally, I think it's great that they are extending the invitation to even CONSIDER fabbing some Gen3 parts from CF - while it is true that most people on here may be a little strapped for cash doesn't mean that the idea should be shunned altogether...
I'm sure you all know this, but if I understand Extreme Dimensions' offer correctly:
One of us would have to mail the decklid or whatever part to them for a template, and IIRC the donor receives that part back in 6-10 weeks for real-world fitment and feedback. I realize that shipping a large body part like that across the country is costly, but so is the CF part in question usually; furthermore many suppliers "do not" charge for shipping on some CF parts
If people will spend over $1000 on coilovers why not less than that on a part that virtually doesn't wear (collisions, accidents notwithstanding)
Just me two cents though...Count me in - I may be the donor if I can find a nice enough decklid

And you're telling me to bite my tongue
It took me almost a year to sell my CF trunk for $525 shipped, shipping being $185. There's no way anyone will buy a trunk for $600 + shipping. Okay, maybe one person.
Guys, I understand having the availability as a good thing, but this would require an initial GB to have a minimum number of people down WITH a down or full payment before they start making the mold. It won't happen.

I see... I was under the (wrong) impression that the vendor just needed one part to get the ball rolling - I stand corrected
So how many people need to be "lined up" in order to initiate the process?10? 20? Yeah - therein lies the problem. You're right $600 for just a decklid is a bit steep but $600 for hood and decklid sounds a little better
By the way - there is a Gen3 carbon fiber Camry hood on ebay now for $150 opening bid plus $160 for shipping - and NO ONE has jumped on it in the last 4 weeks. Sorry about the pigheadedness, guys!
