Changing Cluster Bulbs

Hey i took out the dash to change a light bulb and even THAT isnt simple. I was pulling the 194 bulb out of the socket and it wouldnt come out!

Are these bulbs made to NOT come out? I have to replace the WHOLE unit? Bulb AND socket???

No, they come out. They get suck in the socket due to age and heat.

In a 1996? They can either be soldered in from the facotry, or they can be stuck in. OR they just slide right out.

Im sorry to say this but you are all wrong there not soldered or stuck cause of age the 194 that toyota use is where the bulb is threaded thru the socket the both wires that stick out side from the bulb are both threaded. If you pay really close attention you will know what Im talking about.

So the way to remove them is threading them out with a small flat screw driver like the one you buy to repair glasses.

ACtually you are correct! BUUUUUT.... they are stuck in there really well.
Anyhow, I did NOT replace the bulbs because the bulbs I bought are looped ends. They wouldnt go into the damn holes! Once I thought I did get them in there I used a multimeter and it wasnt working. I took it out and sure enough..... one side went into the hole.... the other was smashed. I tried for 30 FREAKIN MINUTES!!!
So...... no upgrade. And when I put the dash BACK....... things werent working!!! (thats my next thread )
