OK I took out the cluster to replace the bulbs. I put the cluster back and the tach, fuel and speedo doesnt work! Whats going on? It seems all the plugs are plugged back in.
I have a cluster from my dads old 95 somewhere. It was a 2-door but Im pretty sure a 95 will work with a 96. Maybe I should switch them to see if there is something ELSE going on.
really? I didnt know the cluster gauges were on a fuse
I think everything is on fuses on these cars, their circuit might be protected together with others, but there should be a fuse or fusible link block (for higher amp circuits) ... I might be wrong though, not sure
anyways, checking fuses can never hurt

The speedo isn't working? That's odd because I always though it was controlled by a cable (but apparently not). The 10amp gauge fuse below your dash controls tach, fuel gauge, volt meter and temp gauges. If ALL of your illumination lights are out, check the tail light fuse (yes, tail light, I read it in a FSM).

Youre speaking about the fuse behind the coin holder thingy right?

Yes, it's the small covered panel under the driver's dashboard.

Not sure, but the diagram showed it in the fuse panel under the lower left dash. Mine is behind the kick plate but apparently they moved them in the next generation of Camry. Figures! It sure makes it easier to get to!
This SHOULD be correct but I may be wrong.

Nothing was wrong with the fuses.... BUT, I pulled em all out and put em back in. Now the cluster WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took it for a drive annnnnnd....... got a engine light. Thats my NEXT thread!
Sometimes that's all it takes. They often just get a bad connection. Unplugging them and putting them back in seems to work like magic sometimes. Glad you got the first issue solved.
