Just buy the prebent lines from the dealer.
And before you remove the old line, use a pedal depressor (or a suitably sized brick) to depress the brake pedal slightly. This keeps the brake fluid from leaking all out. Then before you release the pedal at the end of the job, use a vacuum pump (MityVac from Autozone's free loaner program), bleed the system to fill the new line with brake fluid (keeping the master cylinder topped so doesnt run dry). Then release the pedal.
Use a flare nut wrench. Better yet, a flare nut crowfoot with a torque wrench. Typically you need about 11 lb/ft for the 10mm flare nut (check the specs).

I try to due most of the work on my car. This will be the first time I need to replace my brake lines. I've been told that I need to replace my rear brake lines to pass inspection this year. The auto parts store says they sell them in straight lengths only.
My question: Anyone know what the proper length for rear bake line is?
Is there a source for preformed brake lines?
How about the braided stainless hose as a replacement-any opinions?
thanks for any help,
Peter
