3rd Generation 93 Camry 4cyl LE Shakes uncontrollably

My Camry shakes like crazy when it reaches 40mph+. Under 40mph it drives almost like new. Could this be a wheel problem or something?

It's not random it happens exactly at 40mph+. It gets worse the faster I go. at 50 the car is shaking so much the steering wheel shakes to the point my arms get numb.

Help my max mph is now 39mph . this is not a new problem. it's a recurring problem for over 7 months, and no mechanic can figure it out. They all say its wheel alignment, but I got them aligned twice already.

If it is shaking that bad, you shouldn't drive the car far until you find out. Are your tires on correctly? Have they checked the tie rods (they can cause shaking before they fail)?

same problem Geo przm 96 auto 155k miles

Hello everyone, good to find this forum.
I have the same problem, at around 60mph it shakes in, it started shaking at over70 mph months ago but now starts shaking sooner, anybody with similar issues or I should just replace the tie rods? how do you test them? any indicators of wear in them to look for?
Thanks
Boris.

I would have your tires/wheels checked for proper balancing first. That's more commonly the problem when a car starts shaking at those speeds.

Go somewhere you trust and get your "new" tires checked. New doesn't always mean good. Sounds like a tire/wheel issue but could be transmission or engine performance. Worn tie rods will not cause what you are feeling.

If I were you I would also check the cv axles. If the tulips are bad enough they will cause exactly what you feel. Likely both are bad if it's vibrating that much...hope this helps.

My Camry had symptoms like this for a very long time. It was getting worse & worse as mileage accumulated, and none of the usual things helped. Ended up being wheel bearings.

mine starts to shake above 60, from 65-70 its feel like a massage chair (not actually a nice feeling after an hour) and at 75 it seems to calm down and start smoothing itself out. i could only imagine it doing that at 40

i was told i have a loose tie rod, but the guy said it was around a $200 job so im looking to see if i could find any cheaper since ive seen some posts saying its about $100 to $150 fix
