timing belt

Hi, I need to replace the timing belt on my 2000, 4cyl camry. I am mechanically inclined - think I can do this work myself? Are there instructions anywhere online for our cars?

Take a look at the DIY sticky for this forum located here. Click on the timing belt links located under the Engine Maintenance & Repair sub-section.

toyotarepairvideos.com sells a tutorial for the timing belt...I think it's 12 bucks, and it's worth it - they'll walk you thru step by step, and it shows a few neat tricks to make things easier.

Its sooooo easy in all honesty. Just order a complete timing belt kit and your ready to go.

Change all the oil seals as well. I didnt have the guts to the first time around and now im getting a couple drips only 15k later.

You can get everything OEM in one kit right here. It was the best buy I could find. I got this kit on ebay when I did mine a couple of weeks ago and they are all great OEM parts. The only other things you'll really need to replace while you're in that area (and that don't come in the kit) are the oil pump seal, oil pump O-ring, and the tensioner spring. I got all three of them from a local imported auto parts place for about another $24. There's not much that's more satisfying than saving yourself money and knowing your car repair was done "right" and not by someone in a rush to get all the billable hours in that they could - at least for me that is.
