3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
After checking through fleabay, I'm so surprised to see that the camry fuel filler neck is so expensive! So I've decided to be cheap and hopefully get some opinions on how I can fix a small leak in the neck All I can think of doing is taking the neck out and then either jb welding it or siliconing some cover over where the pinhole is. Anyone else had a problem like this and found an efficient way of fixing? I REALLY don't want to spend $75 to fix a hole the size of a pin
Yea.....I had the same issue when I was working on a 91 Camry on Saturday.....it came into the shop because it had a gas leak....my boss just ended up sealing it up w/ some exhuast concrete.....Its what is used to seal exhuast leaks and the shit dries up real quick....it seemed to hold when he smeared it all over the pipe....I would say this is a good fix....or....Save and buy a new one....you will sleep better at night....trust me
Good luck

long shot, but I have one from a 99 4cyl camry - not sure if it will fit.
I personally would epoxy a cover over the hole, but don't get the epoxy on the hole itself, I wouldn't want that stuff in my gas/lines/injectors/engine. Also, I think if you just tried to smear JB weld on it, the gas might eat it away?
I figured so. Honestly, I would cut a soda can and get the flat part, wrap it around the hole with epoxy smeared over the edges and put a hose clamp or ten on there.
Or just replace the thing. For a bit more over the price of a tank of gas, you do it properly and it won't leak again for another 10 years at least. If it's rusted in one spot, more holes will likely show up soon enough.
I replaced mine this summer for about $75 as well. Mine was rusted and leaked from a small hole whenever I topped of my gas. I agree with 71Corolla, if its rusted more holes are bound to show up. Especially with winter approaching and all the salted roads.

Agreed! As I was once told: Do it right, or don't do it at all!

I want to do it right, but for $75 for a pipe?? Nothing's wrong.. mine's rusted but I rust proofed it. It has a pinhole cause I used a steel thingy (sry can't remember the name) to sand it down.. which probably created the hole and I didn't realize it. Thanks for the suggestions.. I'll see what materials I have around
