3rd Generation DIY : Piezo Buzzer Removal (ANNOYING)

Who here hates when you have the key in the ignition and your car keeps beeping and beeping and beeping. Then you turn the ignition to ON and it KEEPS BEEPING

Obviously I do. LOL

Lets take that dang thing out of our camry then! Problem solved

=============

First a list of tools you will need to remove this:

1. Phillips head screw driver
2. Flat head screw driver
3. 10mm Socket and Ratchet (Small extension helps)
4. Soldering Iron

Step 1:

Remove Negative Battery Cable from Battery

Step 2:

Remove the two bottom 10mm head bolts from the knee bolster:

Step 3:

Pry out the clips hiding the top two 10mm head bolts and remove the bolts

Step 4:

Remove the coin tray and remove the two phillips head screws from the coin tray holder. There is one more phillips head screw at the top left corner behind this plastic that needs to be removed as well.

Step 5:

Remove Knee Bolster

Step 6:

Pry out the Relay integration box with a flat head screw driver and remove the top plug

Step 7:

Carefully remove the cover of the relay (No pictures shown)

-- Here is where the piezo buzzer is located

Step 8:

Using a flat head screw driver, carefully pry around the outside of the board, pushing it past the plastic locks that hold the board in place

Step 9:

Flip the board over and heat up your soldering iron

After the iron is hot, heat the solder where the piezo is located and the buzzer will drop out once the solder turns into liquid form.

Step 10:

Re-install the board and do steps in reverse order

YAY!!! NO MORE BEEPING BEEP!

No more beeping beep for you now. Cool DIY. Did you disconnected your negative battery terminal before the work?

Wiring Schematics, and if you put your hand overtop of the integration box you can hear the sound get muffled

I will be doing a Temperature Warning Light circuit DIY soon

When your car gets to the point of overheating, a LED turns on to indicate its overheating

My 95 has keyless entry, but it doesnt beep when i lock or unlock the door

Its a lot of work actually, variable resistors, Temperature sensors, Capacitors, LEDS, Circuit boards. Its a fun little project though. All together it costs about $50.00 to make it

this is from the piezo chirper that is under the hood that is bad. its the small plastic thing typically tied to your brake booster line on the master cylinder. i have a thread on this somewhere, but is basically a matter of ordering a new one for under $15, cut the old one out and splice in the new one. search "piezo chirper" and you should find it.

Is there a special piezo buzzer that needs to be switched in or can it be any cheap buzzer?

I did this to my Taurus, then my Stratus, then my Camry. Hey, the smallest dings or squeaks or rattles annoy me, so it was one of the first things I did to this car! I can't remember if it was this car or the Stratus but I couldn't open the door without listening that annoying beep! No more!
