Engine problems

Ok here is my story. One the way home my radiator cracked on top. I kept an eye on the temp gauge and it never went to the hot side. I put water in it and took on home keeping a eye on the temp. when I got home i didnt have to put much water in the radiator to refill it. Installed a new radiator and thermostate. went to work for about a week or longer. on the way home the car started sputtering and the exhust sounded different. the transmission changes but seams like im loosing power or better alsmost like it in fighting agains the exhast like someone put a potato in the exhaust. the other thing is when i crank up the engine is is sputtering and the idle is a little over 1100rpm. when i put the thransmission into nutral the rmps jump up to 2000rpm. then when i got to drive it drops down to about 400rpms. I checked the oil and it looks clear. mabey i craked the head or blew a casket not sure. the car sounds like a bumble bee in rear exhaust. and suggestion or help would be appreciated. thanks. Its a 95 toyota 4 cyl.

hmmm .. Well, the first thing your going to want to do is check the exhaust for white smoke billowing out that smells sweet. If so, your head gasket could be bad (also could be a cracked head).

Could be It wasn't circulating properly through your block so it heated your cylinder walls and metal internals up a lot causing it to get weak. Check your oil pressure.

Pull your spark plugs out and inspect them.

Run a compression test on all four cylinders too.

Your coolant system is supposed to hold 14 - 15psi of pressure to correctly circulate the coolant. Without that 14 or 15psi, its a lot harder for it to circulate.

The laggy throttle response sounds almost like your motors about to blow due to the motor over-heating but its hard to tell without preforming a couple tests.
