Anybody Buy led taillight bulbs and had any luck? Send me pictures I'm thinking about putting some new bulbs in the taillights for added brightness. Let me know if this would be a good idea.
I have a 96 Camry Wagon with regular 1157 tailight bulbs and oem turn signal lights.
LED's..unless you buy really expensive ones, won't be much brighter than stock. They'll look better though because they'll light up and dim down much quicker than filament bulbs. I have a full LED taillight setup, check out my cardomain.. also in my FS thread, I have 1156 and 1157 led bulbs. One thing though is that you'll need to replace your OEM relay in the drivers side kick panel, with one that works with LEDs or else you'll have hyperflashing. Good luck!

couldn't you run a 12v to 5v step-down circuit to stop hyper flashing? Or run 6ohm, 50watt resistors instead of completely replacing the relay? Then just use 25ohm 25watt resistors to keep the bulb out indicator from showing up?
Would you rather replace on relay (which can be bought on fleebay for $7?) or would you rather do a lot of calculations and still end up having headaches?
Been a long while since I've posted on here, crazy busy. But i've had this LED setup running for about 3 months now, no problems with it whatsoever. I did the LED flasher relay and did not use any resistors in the system. Definitely brighter, I used LED's that were about 14 bucks a piece (68 SMD) and they are brighter than the stock filament type bulbs, but not a ton. I have had a few people notice though, and I find the color of all the corners, the brakes, and the sig's are much crisper now.
