3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Have some loose weatherstripping at the top of my windshield. Fried my sunroof control module apparently when it poured yesterday. Problem is, I opened my sunroof today since the weather was decent, and it DOESN'T CLOSE!!! It's supposed to snow this weekend, so if anyone knows a way to manually close it, would be MUCH appreciated.
It's stuck open on the slide, pretty much all the way. Slide control only opens it. Tilt will slide it back and forth (hence the fried module assumption), but only about 2 inches before it makes a nasty buzzing/grinding noise (something else is also f***ed). I just want to get it closed so that I don't wind up with snow inside my car, fix it over winter break

Need performance parts?
Shoot me a PM, I'll see what I can do
Thanks Trail, appreciated! I googled, but I got a bunch of generic stuff
I've found, on mine there isn't a visible hex slot (possibly behind something, I'm going back out to see if I missed something), but there is a large thing with a slot for a flat-head screwdriver, which does move the sunroof. unfortunately, it only moves it back and forth in the range of the motors (about 3 inches) before it slips (I turn it clockwise, but it doesn't move the roof section). I'm hoping that there's some way to fix it without tearing it apart, since my exams are coming up, and don't have the time to rip out the entire system

Traildust, you actually just helped me out big time. I think I love you man (no homo).
Pulled the motor out, checked the mechanism. seemed alright, but I didn't want to fiddle with it. Tried pushing the roof shut using the panel underneath, and it acually slid - Now the roof is shut, and the interior is put back together - still broken, but it at least is shut! thanks again bro!!

Now you can get ready to SELL it, and be done with it.
