3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Friday, I’m planning to visit the University of Houston for their Industrial Design program since UTA doesn’t offer it. I found a salvage yard near there and they’re selling these 15x6 Toyota alloys at a $100 each + tax. they are hard to find and I only seen one other set in the DFW area several months ago. Since they are the same as the ones I have now, I think I’ll just replace the two damage one’s I have. Plus I still can't let go of my current wheel style (other then the Enkei PR-F1, but that's over $200 per wheel)
Do you think it’s a reasonable price for one alloy? I know it's about $200 for a set of used alloy here at some slavage yard but I'm tried of searching for my style. These here are used but of course I’ll only get them with no curb rash/heavy scratches and mush have center caps. Two alloy wheels with a road trip to UH will cost me nearly $300.
Seems way too expensive for a salvage yard! Geez, you can probably find the same wheels for half that price if you just keep looking. They can't be that rare. I've worked in wrecking yards, and we NEVER sold wheels for $100 each! I'd tell them you know where you can get a set for $60 each and offer them $50 each. See what they say. Dang, for $200 you can find sets of 4 (used) aftermarket wheels all day long.

Yeah seems expensive, but I've seen junkyards around here selling them for roughly that much (gen3 alloys). Just save up for the RPF1's, can't go wrong with those.
100$ a wheel for 15's is pricey. Just to give you an idea, I paid 200$ for the 15" ES300 wheels I have as a winter setup. I'm looking into a set of Lexus 18's, which the seller wants for 325$ firm.

Should be closer to $25-30 a wheel! MAYBE $35 with the center caps.

Because this is a large purchase, I would like to ask the wheel experts of TN. I searched Google and TN but didn’t get much.
Today, I woke up too late to visit University of Houston, so I decided to roam the salvage yard looking for parts to do a rear disc brake conversion. I happen to come across a set of 16x7 Enkei J10 that they just pulled off a wrecked Scion tC. The wheels are near perfect. No cracks or curb rash. Only four paint chips and a few light scratch. The down side is the tires are toasted and because I will have to used the 5x114.3 bolt pattern, the scratch 5x100 will be shown.
Overall, four wheels with center caps, tires, and Scion pressure sensor for $271 out the door. Not too bad, since my 15" OEM wheels are shot.
Spec:
16"x7"
Offset 39
225/50r16 but at 4/32
What dose the Japanese writing on the rims say?
Wheels $271
Tires 205/60-16 $300+
Lug Nuts $50
Hub Rings $17
All totaled, I'll shell out about $650
I could install my new 205/65-15 tires on my aunt car for $200 (80% chance because she needs them) and the 4 pressure sensor for $100 on craigslist? (2% chance) So I would spend only about $350. But you know how the real world works.
I like to ask if anyone know the weight on these wheels. Some said 16 lbs, other said 21lbs. I know 205/60-16 is an optional size but will a 7" wide wheel fit, rub, or need fender roll? No plans to drop/lower. What is your opinion on the J10 style? Finally, is it a good/fair price?
Looks like you're getting your answer, Yuko. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth. That's just too much for an OEM wheel of any type. Heck, I only paid $63 for these 14" aftermarket wheels (the 15's were only a few bucks more), so I certainly wouldn't buy a factory wheel from a junkyard for $100.

Sweet wheels, but apparently the owner of that yard must be a multi-millionaire! My local pull-a-part sells wheels like this all day long with tires for $100 for a set, and THAT is a high price. Heck, they got them free! But I've never in my life seen a wrecking yard ask so much for wheels, especially with chips and scratches. I've worked in 4 wrecking yards, so I have a hint of what they sell for.
Glad you found something that is going to work for you.
By the way, the wheel & tire I posted in that other thread: I sold the entire set today with locks, lugs and caps (the wheels were MINT and only 2 months old) for $250 for the entire set of 4 with all receipts and warranties. Just sayin.

It must be nice there. I have visited hundreds of slavage yards at Kennedale, Grand Prairie, and Fort Worth within the last five yards. I narrow down to only four yards that I like because of their price and service . Some place are "How can I help you sir" then others are like "What the f*ck you need". I remember buying the front bumper, fender, hood, lights, rad, ect. for $170 to replace my cousin's wreck Taurus. Then there's another yard want $75 EACH for Camry mudguard. It's a $100 for a SET at the Toyota dealership. WTF. Got it for $5 a piece at my favorite place. The prices are all over the places here.
Also, the yard that the wheels are at is called Greenleaf. Must be big or something. I guess these wheels are a go if I can get everything together. There're not open until Monday so I got 2 days to think over it.

YOu should have no fitment problems whatsoever with that tire/rim combo - and I think the weight on that rim is 16 lbs but you can check on Ebay for the same rim and email the seller asking for a rim weight, or go here:
I went from 14" steelies (195/70 R14) To 15" Motegi knockoffs (195/65 R15) AND dropped the car 2" and have no rub problems or anything like that. ENjoy your new wheels!

As much as I love Enkei wheels, but after a good long thinking; I decided not to do it. The time and money spent is too much for a college student. Wheels, new tires, lug nuts, and hub rings are about $650. Besides, I still like my current wheels. Today after class, I took the wheels off and spent an hour each with a degreaser, 2000 grid sandpaper, rubbing compound, and wax. I can’t believe how a little love can restore these wheels. All this time of washing, I thought the yellowing and black scratches were permanent, but 20 second of wet sanding fixed it. My wheels look 8 years newer…well three of them.
The forth one is the beater. It had gashes from an accident, curb twice, bent from hitting a ditch/hole (then "straighten" with a mullet/hammer), and had a DIY wheel paint performed but now chipping off. This one wheel has gone throught hell. Is it even safe driving with a restraighten alloy?
I found a Toyota Dealer on Ebay selling a new OEM wheel for $80 and $20 shipping. It's the same one as I have now and it's cheaper than buying a used OEM here because everyone overcharged on used alloys. If I can pay on delivery, I might do it. It should be the same since the part number matches the ones on the back of my wheels.
A $100 for a new OEM wheel with caps and 5 lug nuts sound nice. After this, I can stop wheel hunting. It's just that one damage wheel bothering me in the back of my mind while driving. What do you think? And why would a dealership sell a wheel so cheaply?
