Question Piezo Chirper for 1999 Camry V6 LE

My Piezo Chirper for the door locks on my 1999 Camry V6 LE is not very loud. I think this means I need to be replace it. Is there any advice out there?

My Piezo Chirper is made by Floyd Bell and I have read on this forum to get the M-80W. However, on Floyd Bell’s website, the sound that the M-80W makes is not very loud and does not sound like what my Toyota produced when the chirper was working. Actually, the “Beep” tone on Floyd Bell’s web site sounds more like what I had….but the M-80W only comes with a “continuous” sound. Is there any advice out there on this?

I'd get to the piezo and check voltages with a multimeter. The whole circuit could be messed up and not sending enough voltage to the piezo.

you may want to check your engine bay wiring harness ground points, there is like 4-5 of them. i'm not talking about engine ground straps, hat's different.

I noticed when I had additional ground (poor rusty bolt on fender) added for HID in past then my chirper went really quiet. it came back to all loud normal operation once I removed the HID kit (and deleted extra ground).

Thanks, but can't it just be a weak Piezo problem?

Since I'm a novice here, I have no idea where to find my engine bay wiring harness ground points or what they look like.

What is a HID?

Probably (98%) isn't a weak piezo. HID = High Intensity Discharge headlight bulbs. The blue-ish looking bulbs in new cars require a ballast to up-step the voltage/amperage for the bulbs. It can interfere with electronics oldly enough.

wiring harness ground points:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh....php?p=3230226

you need to at least visually check them, best if you can unbolt, clean with wire brush the bolt, wire connector (always white-black wiring in Toyotas) and brush the body contact surface too. then spray all 3 with QD Electronics Cleaner and re-assemble tightly.

you will need to remove both headlights to get access to ground points behind them, but you at least you should be able to visually check them with a flash light through the opening in headlight assembly in corner.
