3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
took me two days to put the supercharger in. had a big problem trying to install the idler plate assembly because i decided not to follow the instructions step by step. but i finally got it in because i went back and did it step by step.
no cel. no ebc. no iac check valve (i ordered it and its sittin at the dealership. didn't go to pick it up yet). i heard that there were two sizes stock pulleys. mine is one or the other. i think its the bigger of the two. sc whine only comes in around 4k and only if my throttle is almost all the way down. doesn't feel faster at all.
i don't know how its boosting cause i don't have a boost guage. i don't know how well its running cause i don't have a wideband. im gonna try to drive normal until i get both lol. if the a/f is really bad then i'll get a tune. otherwise i'll just drive not extermely hard until i can get a smaller pulley, fuel mods, and a tune.
what pictures do u guys want to see ? what kind of videos do you guys want to see ? (in car out window, in car on spedo/tach, revving, drive bys.. etc ? )
Congrats man! But be careful until you get SOME kind of monitoring equipment in there.

Please post vids, extra pics, and anything else you can think of - way to go for thinking outside of the box

you could check to make sure the bypass valve is working properly and it is not stuck open... that would waste all the boost... as king said make sure youre not knocking because 1mz's doesnt like knocking at all!!!
the rod on the bypass valve moves when i rev in neutral so i think that the valve is working.
how do i know if its knocking ? i don't really hear anything abnormal. i thought when the kock sensors detects knocking above a certain threshhold, it'll throw a cel
if with the stock pulley and only intake and catback is night and day, then either my butt dyno blows or somethings wrong lol. i was gonna test it next to my cousins fj again cause without the s/c, i was neck to neck with him 30-60mph so i was gonna see by how much i can surpass him at 60mph with the s/c... but then again i don't have a wideband so im not sure thats a good idea since i don't know how rich/lean i am thru the rpm range lol -.-;; fml for buying the sc before a boost guage and wideband
but then its stock pulley so its intended as a bolt on without anything else right ?? haha (obviously a tune will make it safer/faster)
thanks,
d
ps i'll get a vid up soon. then u guys can hear and see if u can hear if its knocking
When the knock sensors detects knock they tell the ecu to pull back timing... Witch reduces hp.
I think the sc at 4 psi is supposed to bring hp at about 220whp
cant wait to see vids of it
thats only if its a 5 speed or a tuned and lightly modded auto. stock 4psi untuned with no extra mods other then thoes needed for the SC will result in about 200whp depending on dyno. which is still a lot considering stock with the auto is like 150-60ish whp.
Yep. The came from the factory with V6 engines on CE and LE trims.
