gen 4.5 hood supports on gen 4 - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I have a gen 4 (99 camry) with the rod in the front but I know the 4.5s have a differentally shaped cowl to accomodate the hydrolic rods and was wondering if anybody has tried swapping a cowl and supports from a 4.5 to 4 to see if they drop in?

It's not about the cowl. It's about the mounting holes on the hood itself. The gen4 hood isn't drilled and tapped for the hood bump pins. The gen 4.5 is. That is what is different.

I know this because I swapped to a gen4 hood from my 4.5.

It wouldn't be hard to drill the holes, as long as there is enough material there to hold the stud (ie - Toyota didn't do anything silly like weld a nut on the 4.5's).

The struts fit between the fneders and the hood? Post up a pic of the 4.5 setup, if you don't mind. (Mounting points on the hood and fender.)
