I need help with a purchase.

I have the chance to buy a 93 camry DX 2.2 5speed with 290K but the clutch went out. I can get it for $350 its the dark blue exterior with grey interior and there is no rust but light scratches and normal wear. Should I buy it.

Changing a clutch is a huge pain in the ass but is routine. It'll cost you $500-700 to have it done. If this is the only issue, just buy it!

I'd forget that for now and concentrate on the rest of it. Is the underside covered with oil, how do the engine and transmission sound? interior? engine filthy and covered with oil, and is their oil or coolant the tailpipe? A well kept camry can be a bargain, and if everything else is A-OK you may have one. If you are not confident to look its worthwhile to take it to a shop and ask them to inspect it. They would charge you $50-75 to do this i should think.

Well I know the clutch is gone cause that way the seller explained it to me is the same way my clutch went out on my first gen 3 camry. I was at a stop the clutch was already slipping bad when I got the green light I put it in first gear and the car wouldnt move at all so at that point I know it had went out. And thats what pretty much happen to the seller of the camry now.

Well Thank GOD for ebay I found the clutch kit and flywheel both at $150 shipped. And for the instillation my friend is a mechanic at it will take us a good 8 hours from start to finish and being my friend owe me for a few favor for the past he would pretty much do the work for a 24 pack of coronas. So my total cost would be $500

And body is not that bad. And interior needs a cleaning which I have a hook up for a great detailer here in chicago.
