Hi please help me out , i have a 99 camry 2.2 4 cyl. 5 spd , ive been having issues with, this is the following that happens , as soon as the car wams up to normal il be driving and il stop at a red light the car starts revving to 2000 rpm on its on without me touching the throttle... then as soon as i shift into first gear it shoots down to zero and the car shuts off then it wont start till i keep trying and out of no where it will choke a bit and start and then once i start driving il be on third gear the car starts cutting off like kinda when u need a tune up u lose power ... theres no check engine light and ive cleaned the throttle body with special cleaner. i dont kno what to do anymore>!>!? thanks
IAC problems usually happen when cold. I know this has been brought up, but I believe it has to do with the ignitor coil. Someone chime in if I'm wrong.
ya it only happens when its cold outside , like as soon as it shuts off , it wont start no more , the engine turns but it wont start and then like after 5 min of trying it barely starts and it idles ruff then comes back to normal
Yeah, then I would suggest doing what JohnGD suggested. You might want to clean the valve. Otherwise, if it was warm and it shuts off at idle, then I'd say it was the distributor. 1992 4-cylinder sputters and dies at idle
like the car is all normal , then il start driving it and while im driving it shuts off, then i stop on the side of the road and try to start it and after a while it will barely start and then every light i stop at it revs at 2000 rpm without me touching anything and as soon as i start driving it feels like when a automatic tranny is about to go it like skips a gear kind of feeling is what it does when il be on gear and then out of no where it goes away. its driving me nutts

gen4 camry are distributorless design.
another idea might be a filthy fuel filter (was it ever changed?) or fuel delivery problems (dirty/clogged injectors, fuel pressure problems), etc.
but clean IAC hole first through TB opening, it takes 10 mins with a toothbrush and Sea Foam Deep Creep spray. might be it.

Would the cold effect something electrical so the CEL isn't on? A fuse for that? Would a OBD2 reader give a code for this problem? Sounds like the cold freezes something, maybe a sensor? Or something seizes up because of the cold?

if you suspect temperature sensors problem (colder weather might reveal them better if they are sticky) you may want to test them by reading resistance of them at a known temperature and comparing to graph.
start with mentioned ECT for EFI sensor, a very important one.
check "camry stuff" for FSM instructions on testing the sensor.
