Thumbs up 98 Camry V6 | Mobil1 0w-30 | 5k UOA (used oil analysis)

Hey guys, here's a UOA (used oil analysis) from my 98 Camry V6 with 190,000 miles on it.

Oil was in use for 6 months and 5,200 miles.
Oil was Mobil1 0w-30

The car is coming up on its second timing belt and spark plug change and i send a sample of the oil in for analysis to see how the engine is doing and whether its worth it for me to keep the car any longer.

The results look pretty good to me, apart from the Cooper and Lead.

I've been doing 3,000 miles OCI (oil change intervals) since the car was bought new in 98. The engine is prone to sludge so i wasn't taking any chances.

I just recently decided to extend my OCIs a bit to get the most outta my money and the synthetic oil i use.

Current fill is Amsoil OE 5w-30 which i plan to run up to 6k and do another analysis.

thanks for sharing this

resurrected this thread only because I was looking for a comparison, currently running 0w-30 in 5s-fe, will be testing it in Summer, wanted to know what to expect. I also learned that it's meaningless nowadays to change oil by time (4 months or 6 months) when using latest synthetics, they seem to withstand time test pretty well, only miles count really.

it seems that in 1mz-fe only lead and copper count increases when extending the OCI with synthetics.

my next UOA on 1mz-fe will be after using Mobil1 0W-40, will share those too as this oil so far looks best per specs to me.

I wonder if better film strength will help reduce lead/copper/tin count, unless these are from other additivies.

While OP's molybdenum (anti-wear) count still higher than average, the other anti-wear additives (phosphorus and zinc) are tad low. Maybe it's just a different additive package.
