Front Side Marker Light Removal on 96 Camry?

I probably shouldn't be allowed out in the public after screwing around with this for the past hour and searching another 45 minutes on this site. I'm peeved.

I can't figure out how to remove the FRONT SIDE MARKER LIGHTS on my '96 Camry. I removed the screw on the top, but for the life of me can't figure out how to pull the housing out. I'd appreciate some help if you have a minute. Thanks.

I find the easiest way to figure out how to remove something is to look at what it looks like AFTER its removed. Yes, they're a pain to remove sometimes. You have to pull VERY hard. Anyways, hopefully this picture will help you out a bit.

You can see the two tabs of the rear of the light that hold it into a metal bracket (with two holes, one for each "tab"). Just pull STRAIGHT FORWARD.

Pull the thing straight forward, huh? Okay. I'm going to put on my extra large Gorilla suit (not the small one) and give it another go. Age must have hardened the rubber grommets (I'm assuming it is pushed into those.) Thank you for your reply.

The hardest part about this is that you can't just use full force to pull it out because it's connected and plugged in. What I found was the best tool (use it carefully to not ruin your paint) is a really large flathead screwdriver. Pry it out and when you can get your whole finger in there use your fingers to pull it out the rest of the way. Oh, of course unscrew the first screw.. that's really the only thing other holding it in other than the clips.

When I remove things like this on my car for the first time, I always put a small dab of grease on them before putting them back. It makes it a bit easier to remove in the future.

Well, . . fuddly duddly. The super powers of my Gorilla suit have left or maybe, I'm not pissed off enough yet. I can't pull it out. I have had it out before, but that was years ago.

I appreciate the replies and putting the dielectric grease on the clips, device or whatever it is, is a great idea, . . when/if I get that summa bitch outa thar.

Just in case you break it, these guys will probably have the cheapest price on a new aftermarket one.

Just use a really large flathead screwdriver.. it'll pop out without you using your gorilla suit
