3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Thanks to Iovaykind, my car looks 100% better lol.
I know that HID shouldn't be installed without projectors, but if I truly had the money I would of gone in that direction. I still got to get my hood and front bumper painted, and I'm just a piss poor college student haha. The hood/bumper alone is going to kill me.
Anyways, I'm just concerned about inspections. Will I pass them without changing anything, or do I have to put in my old halogen bulb? I'm in NY, and I'm going to say it's strict here, my mother failed with a dead bulb lol...but I guess that's different. I know the watts and power is different, I think halogen is around 50, and isn't HID more or less?
And, is there a way to keep old lens from aging? Like some kind of secret? I know they will stay clear for a while but to slow down the process...it's the OEM kind.
As far as keeping the lenses looking new, just keep them clean. Use a micro fiber towel and glass cleaner. And i would think it just depends on the shop if they will pass or fail, cause HIDs are not legal in non projector headlights, some shops might not know that, others might not care as long as your lights work. I would think that only a really strict shop would fail your car for that.
Curvy roads + bad lighting on the streets + dim stock lights = bad
I wanted to see better without using high beams. I could of bought higher powered bulbs but for the same cost...eh.
If I wanted to be safe when going for my inspection in the spring, can I just put the old bulb in or will it fry the harness due to a higher watt or whatever the difference is?

You're welcome dude.. really, the glare is not bad at all. I was actually surprised. You can get an output shot, that'll convince more people. On the gen 3 though, the glare was bad with HIDs.. maybe the gen 4 design was a bit better

Yah, it real isn't too bad, my camera phone is terrible with lighting but I parked my car and went down the block, it may not be the same thing as another car driving but still, looking at it, it was okay. It definitely makes the car look newer/nicer.
