96 Camry no start issues

my friends 96 camry 4cyl is having some starting issues. last night the car wont crank over so he replaced the batt and still doesnt start.

i noticed that the started doesnt even click when we try to start it and also when we turn the key to the "ON" position, no instrument cluster lights come on.

I'm gonna throw this video your direction. I'd assume your starter or the starter relay has gone out.... or maybe even an EFI fuse. But i'm not exactly an expert on the mechanical side of cars.

Keep in mind if its an automatic, the starter will not turn over unless the Neutral Safety Switch detects its in Park or Neutral.

Your Neutral Safety Switch May have a problem.

try putting the shifter in Neutral and starting it

thanks for the tips and ideas guys.

so i checked it some more and found my problem. he has an aftermarket positive batt terminal on the car and the terminal had some corrosion in between the post and wire to the fuse box. i found 12v at the post but only 8v at the fuse box in the eng compartment.. cleaned out the terminal and works now

Glad you got it fixed. Ironically, I had the same problem on my huge rig in my signature pic a month ago.
