DIY for AC Evap replacement 95 LE

Does anyone know of a thread with this ? I have the Helms but there is not a lot of detail about hte evaporator.

Search simple terms such as "evap" and "a/c". Do you have a service manual for the car?

pretty much just unbolt and remove if I remember correctly- I took one off of a junkyard car before to take a line off. it was pretty straight forward.

just becareful about bending the aluminum lines and also hope that the bolts that attach the top line to it hasn't seized....though...if you're just replacing the line, even if it seizes, it'll just be snapped off inside your old evap canistor

Make sure you Evacuate your AC system before removing any ac lines or your gonna get a punch in the face. lol

Not by me.. the Air conditioning system has quite a bit of pressure. Releasing R34 into the atmosphere is also highly illegal too

best way is to just loosen a bolt holding a line, then step quickly pull it and step back

it'll be all evacuated in about a couple of minutes....and yes....technically, it's illegal

yep - I did this to get to the front manifold bolt... very surprising. Actually, can anyone suggest how I get the AC on my 96 Camry working now that the compressor discharge line was opened? How do I tell if it is R12 or R134a?

In 95 r134-a was implemented in the camry, so u have r134-a system

can one have R134a with a schraeder valve??. Looks like my low side is valved this way

The schrader valve very common and used for various pressure fittings auto a/c, fuel, etc., and in stationary a/c systems. The size and shape of the outer housing is the indicator if it is compatible with R134a gauges and charge fittings.
