question on aftermarket throw out bearings quality
hi
well i'm about to do a 5 speed sawp (matters of weeks) and i've readed at several places to not use aftermarket throw out bearings because they tend to fail prematurely...
to go on my fidanza flywheel i got a ACT street modified clutch and pressure plate, the kit came with an ACT throw out bearing
my question is:
should i install the ACT THB or should i get an OEM toyota THB? if i get an oem THB will it work with my PP
aamco florida installed my exedy stage 1 clutch kit
3 months later the TOB started making noises
had to pay aamco indiana to replace the TOB that came with the exedy kit with an OEM. they stated that it did not go bad because of installation error from aamco florida.
you can't be certain that ACT designs and manufactures the TOBs that comes in their kits.
i think you should call and ask but im pretty sure that ACT only designs their pressure plates and clutch discs. i'm pretty sure they just buy the assembled TOBs.............
when I did my swap, I went with an oem one, but the second time around when I pulled everything out again, I compared the oem one with the one that came with spec and it was the same manufacturer (which was nachi, as he said)

Ok thanks guys! I compared the act thb to the oem thb that was on my trans when i bought it and the act one deff looks more wimpy... Ill take a safe route and just buy a oem thb...
Koyo is a good brand as well, Toyota uses them for other bearings too (like inside the transmission). It's about the same price as the Nachi bearing too.
^ ha...QC prices are the same as ON....now at least I know that canada gets screwed together, cuz it's only around 30bucks in the states for the same part
