1. Restricted air filter
2. Faulty MFI/SFI systems
• Faulty pressure regulator
• Clogged fuel return line
• Defective engine coolant temp. sensor
• Defective intake air temp. sensor
• Faulty ECM
• Faulty injector
• Faulty throttle position sensor
• MAP sensor

[MAP SENSOR INSPECTION
1. INSPECT POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE OF MAP SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the MAP sensor connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(c) Using a voltmeter measure the voltage between con–
nector terminals VC and E2 of the wiring harness side.
Voltage:
4.75 – 5.25 V
(d) Reconnect the MAP sensor connector.

coolant temp and intake air sensor good injectors good,, tried 2 tps sensors... Power good at map.. pressure regulator responses with vacuum applied... Only thing I'm not sure of is return line......... air filter new... I find the return line unlikely because it ran fine a day ago until the dist went bad

Try (while the vehicle is running) to disconnect the IAC Harness plug . (under the Throttle body -- white / grayish / greenish plug). It should idle up, if it doesnt the IAC is stuck.

Get a can of starting fluid and spray it around the intake manifold and injectors and see if theres a fluctuation in RPM. if so, you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

If everything checks out. I would try to swap the ECU with a known good one and see if the problem persists. Kind of odd that since you've changed all this crap and it still idles bad.

Other things that could cause a problem:

1. Faulty ignitions:
• Incorrect timing
• Fouled, shorted or improperly gapped plugs
• Open or crossed high–tension cords
• Cracked distributor cap
2. Incorrect valve clearance
3. Leaky EGR valve

i removed the iac and throttle body yesterday and its spotless now.. It reacts to changes while watching live data like when i click on the ac or choke the throttle body with a rag or create a vacuum leak I have a new iac here but hesitant to install it because i don't think the iac would be an issue with the car not being to accelerate past 1500 rpm.. iac only controls at idle correct?? I got enough mony pissed away hoping i can return the idle speed control. Have to find an ecm i guess... its just odd the distributor and ecm go in the same day... I should be buying lottery tickets i guess

I also used a smoke machine to check for intake leaks and found none

Just a hunch here. Clogged cat? If you had to replace the distributor in your car because the car was misfirring, the unburned fuel passing through the exhaust system could have doomed and clogged the cat. Try disconneting the exhaust system in front of the cat and taking the car for a ride. See if it then revs like normal.

Are you absolutely certain the timing is correct, verified with a timing light? Also, this can happen if there is a problem with the air flow sensor.

Ok i got it to idle for about 3 min... I noticed the tac flutters around 2200 rpm.. the car i would guess is at about 900 rpm but the tac is at 2200???

I also noticed on live data from the scanner that the rpm jumps from 900 to 6500

ill check wires from dist to igniter

I think you have a wiring issue if your scan tool is picking up a 900 to 6500 RPM fluctuation.

5v at igf and igt at pcm and igniter white and white and red

continuity from igniter to distributer black and red

and continuity from rpm signal (black wire) at igniter to data link...

so either bad igniter or the diode in pcm??
