E53 Gear Lube, which one is safe and good?

Hi people I have a an E53 transmission with open diff and I need to buy Gear lube so my question is would Royal Purple gear max have an adverse effect on the syncros because they're brass iirc, and I've heard limited slip agents or hypoid friction modifiers something like that are bad for brass syncros. so please chime in if you have any experience with this. I live in south florida so its never lower than 35 degrees. toyota specifies GL-4 or GL-5. i think red line makes a gear lube with no slip additives, is that what i should use?? thanks

If Toyota says it's ok to use GL-5, then maybe it's really fine.

If you don't mind using GL-5, then go with Valvoline SynPower 75W-90. I'm not a fan of RP. I'd rather go with Redline. But Valvoline fully syn first. And Valvoline synthetic brake fluid too.

thanks guys,
that's a nice write- up... GM syncromesh, never heard of it but i'll do some research
as far as Redline MT90 a lot of Supra guys are putting it into the turbo 5 speed and they def put those things through hell so it's probably good.

Anyone know how many quarts the E53 takes?
Brandoe when are you going to have that 5 speed swapped in? supercharged?

You can't go wrong with Redline Lightweight Shockproof. Many of the MR2T guys run it and love it. I'm running Redline MTL at the moment, but I may switch to Shockproof in the future.
