What is this part?

I'm putting the heads back on my 93 camry 3.0L, and there is what appears to be a broken sensor. There are 2 of them, they sit in the block located beneath the intake manifold and fuel rail. The both sit in between the heads. Anyone know what the do? I have one that the sensor plug looks pretty haggard. I need to know what sensor it is so I can see about replacing it.
Thanks.

if they are knock sensors , they are pretty expensive. Over $100.00 per sensor. If I were you and the sensors are going to be replaced, I would suggest going to a salvage yard and pull them yourself for $10 or $20 instead of $100 or $200 new. Just make sure not to drop them or hit them hard. Theres a piezoelectric element inside of it that is very very sensitive

Maybe if you could take a picture we could help you more
