3rd Generation Need help with brake system

Hey guys my name is Steve i am a new member. I have a 1999 Toyota Solara SE, yesterday i was swapping out my stock brake system with Powerstop Front And Rear Brake system. So i got the front two rotors and pads installed now i am trying to install the rear two, but i couldn't take of the rear calipers there was one bult that i can take out but the top one didn't have a bult head that i can unscrew. So if you guys can help me out on how to remove the rear calipers that would be awesome. Thanks

hey no problem

Make sure you bungee strap or tie up the caliper when you remove it so it doesn't put too much pressure on the hydraulic break line too. When they get old, that pressure of hanging can tear the lines sometimes. Usually doesn't happen, but it really a pain if it does happen!

The caliper mounting bracket has to be removed to replace the rotors, regardless front or back.
How are the parking brake shoes??

The caliper bottom bolt removed will allow the caliper to swing up - for pad replacement.

Swing the caliper up, and twist to get the top pin out, you can then clean the pin, and re grease it at that point.

First, make sure that your Emergency Brake is not engaged.

Once you confirm the emergency brake is released, take a hammer and hit right in the center of the rotor. Give it a couple good wacks.

Try to pull it off.

If it doesn't pull off easily, run two screws in the holes on the face of the rotor. Tighten them evenly and the rotor will use the pressure of the screws to push the rotor off.

thanks
solara gen1.5 (2002-2003) has pretty much only different lights (9005+9006 in front and different tails) than gen1 solara had, rest is more or less exactly same as it was around 2000

I in return can't stand gen2 solara's body (2004+), they appear to me like a giant soap holders in bathroom or something hehe ... everything is too oval in them.

I don't do much mods to exterior, rather focused on keeping engine strong and having all tuned up internally. Plus I try keeping everything quiet, strong brakes and shifting right

I think you only have to pull out one DRL relay from DRL fuse box by the battery and the whole DRL sub-system will quit. there is like 3-4 of them, try them one by one (leave AFR HTR relay alone, it's for AFR sensors around V6 engine, located in same box).

I hope you use projectors, because as much as I like the gamma of colors with HIDs (used white 4300K HID kit in past), I have to admit that glare is annoying without projectors retrofitted in lamp housing.

Thanks ill try to test each DRL relay and see if it works. Yeah i also agree 2004+ solaras are weird esprecially the rear and the tailight ewwwww LOL. The 2000 solara has that wierd taillight and the front bumper, but its way better than the 2004+ ones. Ill post some picture of my car tomorrow. What have you done so far with the engine? Sofar i only got a SHort Ram intake ( SOUNDS AMAZING!!! ) but i am also waiting for a new exhaust (TRD) or maybe just the TRD muffler.
