3rd Generation Fiberglassing help...?

I want to do some fiberglassing on my '93 Camry, but I'm not quite sure what to do... Specifically I want to make fiberglass door panels, but I want to make them from scratch instead of put fiberglass over the old ones, just so I don't ruin them. The only real change would be a place for the speaker, leds in place of the original door lights that come on when the door is open, no pocket at the bottom, and a small pocket on the arm rest instead of a full hole through it to close the door. I hope some of you understand what I mean...

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I know what you mean.. I have no idea where to tell you to start. I would say Cut up the old ones leaving the key areas in tact. The armrest, door lock, light and frame (for mounting points) Anything you want to keep. Then just build with styrofoam, cardboard wood (6.5" speaker mount) or whatever you have to make the form you desire. Ive been thinking about something like this for quite some time. Partially to save weight but mostly for aesthetics and speaker location. Good luck keep us posted if you do it.

Edit: If you use styrofoam, cover it with something before you fiberglass so the epoxy resin doesn't eat away at it.

Thanks. I've been putting alot of consideration into it. I've heard fiberglass resin won't stick well to masking tape, so I thought about making a mold to go off of. I could build up the places I want to change somehow without screwing anything into the original and make a mold. That is a possibility.

I almost feel dump for wanting to make a 17 year old car look bad***... haha...

I saw that on your car domain. Pretty sweet ride.
I'm working on a low budget, so it might be awhile. I wish I had the moeny to go ahead and do the outside. Body kit, repaint, etc. It's got hail damage, so I've gotta take care of that too.
Oh well. Car was free so I have no room to complain.

Nope not for free. Sweet deal! I have been thinking about doing a custom Fiberglass box for my sub and build it into the spare tire well in the trunk. Ill have some free time on my hands after Christmas.

You guys know you can just drill the center piece of the door panel off right? Where the fabric sits. There are a bunch of spots where they plastic weld them together. You just need a large drill bit and then drill / run self tapping screws in it to put it back together
