Sometimes local salvage yards have cars that just crashed with excellent condition tires.
Just make sure the sizes are the same.. You will have to get them dismounted and remounted which will cost you around $30.00 total.
You can pick up 4 tires at a salvage yard for around $100-$150.00.
Just make sure they aren't cracked or dry-rotted.
Its usually not a great idea to get them from a salvage yard, but like I said sometimes people will buy brand new tires and then get drunk or wreck. Or slam into a deer, etc.. Those new tires are now sitting waiting for us to pick them up. hehe
^ Too bad we have businesses here that actually have people hired to go to our junk yards and do that daily.

They do sell them as "used"... they just don't say where they came from.

Any reason why? I've heard some people do, some people don't. I know I'll just switch back to my old tires at the end of February.
You will experience poor fuel mileage with the more aggressive tread, you will notice more vibration / road noise. The tires will wear out much faster than summer tires / all seasons.
