Some Helpful Pics When Doing a 5sfe Motor Rebuild or Swap

I didn't have a chance to take as many pics as I would have liked to make a DIY since I worked on my motor at odd hours of the night due to a busy schedule. Therefore having someone else take them as I worked wasn't really an option. However, I believe these pics should be helpful as a refrence as far as routing of some wiring, vacuum tubes, etc. Plus, who doesn't like motor pics?

What my rebuild consisted of:

Regound Crank
New Main and Rod Bearings along with thrust washers
Removal of balance shafts
Replacement Rod (Thanks Chris!)
New piston rings
New Clutch
Resurfaced Flywheel
New Valve Seals
New Crank, oil pump, camshaft, rear main seals along with other necessary gaskets
New Headgasket and head bolts
New Fuel Filter
New Plugs

Sweet! Looking nice. Lots of rust...but if I'm remembering your location correctly, that's to be expected!

And you're welcome for the rod

Yep, I'm in NJ and they salt like crazy in the winter. Overall the rust on the car isn't bad for a car of this age. I wish they had some sort of protection though, like plastic under panels. However, the only real tarnishing is on small parts where the paint failed. I did not have any problems loosening any bolts due to serious though so I'm not complaining.

The most important part was that she started right up when the motor was back in. I wish it wasn't so cold here, I would have spent a lot more time removing rust and painting things to make it look nice and mint, but for now getting it running was the important part as I did not want to drive my other car in the winter.

nice pictures. I like the ones showing the location of the VSV. Those will be very helpful to someone not knowing the exact location
