4th Generation Wipers Stopped Working 97 Camry LE

97 Camry LE Wipers were kind of sluggish the night before for some reason. The next morning they stopped. I pulled up on the wiper thinking it might be frozen and it started to work. Once turned off never worked again. I replaced the motor and the 20 amp fuse and still no wipers also Check Engine light on as well. ?/?/?/?/?

Is the motor a new OEM one or rebuilt? because it could be that the new installed is not good if it is a rebuilt one. Check on the connection if there is electricity—power—coming to the motor. If the answer is “yes” and it does not work there is a good chance that it is not a good working motor.
If that is the case and you get another one try it first without installing it all the way down, that way you are sure that it works before moving ahead. Just plug it in and turn the switch on inside your car to see if that one works. If it works then do not unplug it, just turn the switch off and keep going with the final installation.

Might also want to check and see if you have a good ground going to the motor.

Check engine light... did you scan it for codes?

Well Check Engine Light Fixed it had code (P0125 insufficient coolant temp for closed loop fuel control) so Tightened Gas Cap 3 clicks and added more Coolant

Now the Wiper Problem:
My washer motor works, pumps and squirts, yet I cant get the wipers to work. The Wiper Motor was replaced and is good and not bad. Where exactly is this ground wire and what else is there to this Wiper Motor Washer Intermitant system?
One Day they work the next they dont.

I know my daughter had something to do with the wipers since she doesnt let the car warm up and remove the snow first. She likes to use the wipers as snow removal from the windshield.

The old Wiper Motor was burnt smelling and the copper coils inside were blackened.

All I know is I am going throught the Rain-X right now!

check this thread for ground points all over car:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh....php?p=3230226

i don't know which ones are primarily used by wiper motor but it miay be inside cabin or under hood, lots of them in those 2 spots. to make it easier also make sure the ground point used by Engine Coolant Temp sensor is good and clean since you had P0125, maybe they share a common ground point maybe not, worth checking.

P0125 usually means that ECT sensor (one used by ECU) is reporting constantly low coolant temperature (cold) and is an indication of a bad sensor. you should test it with a multimeter to see what it says when cold and (supposedly) hot.

You could also use OBD2 scanner software and cable for laptop/netbook to see what computer sees on input from that sensor. you may have more codes as pending (not yet stored).

Use a voltmeter and measure the voltage at the motor. If you switched on and there is no battery voltage there, then check the switch. And yes it may be an electrical problem.
