Is smoking taillights too 'ricer'?

I just would like to smoke them out but few questions:

1: does it dim your lights badly?

2: film tint or actual spray can smoke? the film tint seems easier to put on but could fall off

3: too ricer lol?

1) You can control how dark you want it with spray. You can buy different darknesses with tint.

2) I prefer tint. It's easier to keep the tint the same level across the light (spray sucks if you stay in one place too long) and it's removable.

3) It's gonna look REALLY ricey unless you do the center panel (gen 3.0 LE/XLE, gen 3.5) or swap to a gen 3.0 SE/DX panel.

Ricer is just a frame of mind. If it looks good to you, do it.

I personally would go with the film, having used it before to black out reverse lights. Let me tell you, when those lights are on, you can't even tell they're blacked out.

The spray probably is easier to use, but I would not worry about the film falling off as long as you do it correctly.

I used Rvinyl film to red out my turn signals. Its been holding up perfectly for the past 6 months.

I'd rather red out than black out.. but its all preference. Stick with tint, it'll look much better if done right in the end. ALSO you're going to want it to be removable instead of buying a new set in case police want to crack you for it.

i differ from everyone else here, i think spray works better. you can control the darkness better (i personally dont like lights to be black but rather just darken them a bit) and its easier to conform to complex curves. the added touch is then to wetsand and buff at the end for a smooth finish, but not necessary.

Be forewarned that if you ever get rear-ended and have tinted tails, ALL major insurance carriers can (and most will) deny claimant insurance claims and/or liability in the crash. I've seen it happen at least half a dozen times here with several different insurance companies.

I'm not making a judgment on whether I think they look good or not... just offering advice.

the smoked look can look good, and not ricey but its not really my thing. I had done it to my 97 and used the film. I wouldn't buy the film again. id use spray.

it does not effect the brightness of the lights too drasticly.

i like mines a lot but i might revert them back to normal since i learned not too long ago that they are illegal the guy that offered me these did not told me about that

i got stopped by a cop last summer and he whined about them but i did not get a ticket... guess i got lucky

but look in my sig you can still see the red from the tail...

plus going back to stock would be more sleeper for me... a must with a 5 speed and m90 SC lol

Never been a fan of dark taillights. Partly because they do look ricey.

I've seen some otherwise cool kids get screwed over the deal. I'm not saying I agree with it... just that they can do it.
