2000 Camry Rough Idle in Drive When Brake Applied

Hello,
I have a 2000 Camry XLE 6-Cylender with 81K miles. The car runs fine in neutral but when I put it into drive and apply the brake pedal the car starts to have a vibration (vibration is not there when moving only in drive when stopped). We took it to the dealer and had the motor mounts replaced but that did not solve the problem. If anyone has any idea of what is wrong or can help please let me know.
Thanks,
Jon

you changed all the mounts? Or just the motor mounts. There is another mount that connects the transmission to the sub-frame. they tend to rip over time and can cause vibration. Also, if you haven't done a tune up / cleaned your IM you may want to look into doing that too.

There could be multiple issues:
-Did you clean out the Idle Air Control Valve?
-Are you sure there are no vacuum leaks?
-Did you pull out the codes using an OBD scanner to see if cylinders are misfiring?
-How are your engine mounts?

Hope this help

Another suspect is the power brake booster - if the valve has a problem, or the diaphragm is leaking, it'll cause an air leak, with a rough idle, which will be most noticeable at idle. Checking things out with a scan gauge (looking at fuel trim and IAC opening, indicating an air leak) will help determine.

If the roughness is there without the service brakes applied (put in gear, test by applying parking brake and releasing service brake) the above is likely eliminated.

Another thing would be to turn on A/C - a bad mount/lazy IAC will 'sound off' with the added load of a compressor.

Thanks everyone for your help. I am probably going to check the power brake booster. When the emergency brake is applied there is no vibration only when you step on the brake. So, I will check it out and see how it goes.

Thanks again for the help.
