I was at Autozone earlier and was getting another can or TB/Intake Cleaner. The lady that works there was saying something about how carburetor cleaner can damage the intake plenum. Is she right?
And how does one go about getting the engine wire harness out the way, in order to remove the rear valve cover?
i heard carbureator cleaner isnt good for sensors and that throttle body cleaner is sensor safe. i dont know how much truth there is in this, so i have cans of both to use on each.

I've heard the same. I keep a can of each for the same reasons. Not worth damaging things over a $5 can of crap.

how about a Berryman B-12 Chemtool spray, its both throttle body cleaner and carb cleaner. the back labeling say it oxygen sensor safe. is it safe for plenum cleaning?

I saw that at the store, but it wasn't cheap. I used the carb cleaner and tb/intake cleaner for the plenum. I still wondering if its okay to crc tb cleaner for iac valve.
Is it a good idea to clean the plenum with simple green?

yeah its safe to clean the plenum with simple green. i remember reading a cleaning DIY thread here where the dude dumped his plenum into a bucket of simple green and let it sat for 15min. but don't know about the crc tb for iav cleaning tho. i'm still stuck with that question for myself as well. i have a bottle of B12 carb and tb cleaner and don't know if thats safe to spray at my iac valve.
well, whatever cleaner safe for oxygen sensors should be OK for IAC too as you really can't avoid spraying into that hole accidentally when cleaning the TB. just remember that whatever gets into TB must be safe for engine sensors, spark plugs, etc. as it will get down there and get combusted eventually.
I used some Gunk or Gumout (or maybe it was CRC) Throttle Body cleaner spray from local Autozone before I started using Seafoam Deep Creep.

so is the berryman B12 is okay to do iac valve cleaning since its 02 sensor safe? don't know if safe for spark plugs tho.

I've been using deep creep exclusively for that job for a while now on a large range of cars (except some fords that have a warning about how it can't be cleaned due to some magic coating they use, and no matter how bad a mistake I think that may be, I don't argue with it.) And so far it's always worked well and I haven't had a single issue with it.
Can you? Yes, but let me explain my opinion. Every time you get cheap on a car you take a risk, and you need to ask yourself is it worth having to do it again if it doesn't work out. The only thing you have to loose is the time it takes to pull the intake off again if it leaks. The gasket is probably ok, and if your ok with probably then go for it.

Yeah, I know, it just I have spent more money than I have expected, and need to save some.
Does anyone know the name of this clamp? PN#?
Thanks
