Any suggestions for iphone-compatible car stereo for my 2001 Camry?
Hey there,
I am looking for an integrated solution for my iphone/ipad in my 2001 Camry LE.
I was thinking about replacing the original car stereo.
The issue is that I am not sure which iphone-compatible car stereo is compatible with my 2001 Camry.
My original stereo is double DIN i believe. If I go for a single DIN stereo, what should I do with the extra space?
Any suggestions? I have only ~$200 budget.
Iphone/Ipad compatible how? I suggest you check out http://www.crutchfield.com/ That's going to be the best place to research which brand/model you want. Also... if you go single DIN, the bottom space is usually filled with a small storage drawer.

check out the Alpine units. They have good interface with iPhone and iTouch. I personally had a CDA-9886 headunit and it worked really well with my 2G iPhone back in the day.

Crutchfield is awesome that way. It's been a few years since I've purchased from them, but they've always included any necessary wiring harness adaptors, installation brackets, or hole fillers for free!

Thans for all your suggestions. I will check out that store.
I prefer rear AUX ports. Then just run the cables into one of the compartments or the glove box.

That's what I've got too. But I just let the cord dangle out from underneath and lay the iPod on the center console.
For the OP's benefit:
Nowadays there are lots of head units that have iPod controls built in. So they can do whatever you'd do with the Ipod's clickwheel. Also, some of them will display song titles, artist, artwork and such. So there are widely varying degrees of "iPod compatibility".

I've had an Alpine 9856 for about 4 years now with no problems and I've talked 2 friends into the Alpine HU's, they love them.
And the new ones allow for direct USB hookup, so searching through playlists is much faster.
