just another quick fix
hey guys,
So I was plagued with a bad t-stat in my vehicle. I had done somewhat of a tune up a few months ago and this included replacing my thermostat. My mistake was purchasing the prestone t-stat (aftermarket). It seemed that no matter how long the car had been running and the temperature gauge at the normal level...as soon as i would put any kind of load on the engine (be in turn on the rear defroster, start a/c, or even so much as accelerating quickly caused my gauge to drop virtually back to the "C" position. I was getting really fed up with this. Pretty much if I took off quickly off the line, my RPM's would climb just about as fast as my gauge would drop.
long story short, popped in a brand new OEM t-stat in there and now the problem is gone. I can hold my rpms (car is a 5 speed) without the gauge going anywhere but up (of course stopping halfway and not overheating).
Just thought I would post and let some guys know what the issue was.
**in short, if i were you guys, spend the extra 12 bux (which is basically what the difference in cost is) and put in an OEM t-stat...don't go aftermarket, only caused me more issues then before
Happy holidays guys!!!
