carpet kit

Brand new to the forum. I just snagged a 1993 wagon with 170,000 miles for $600. A couple of minor repairs here and there and I think i have myself a total steal. I already successfully used this forum to diagnose a couple of problems that were easy fixes.

The car was not well cared for but runs like a champ. The interior is actually in good shape and cleaned up nicely with the exception of the nasty carpet.

I have been searching for a carpet kit online. Everything I see says that the carpet kits dont fit the wagons? Im surprised there is a difference?

Does anyone know where to get a reasonably cheap carpet kit that will fit a wagon?

Is it just dirty? Honestly if you're going to go through the trouble or removing and replacing it anyways... why not just remove and steam clean it? And yes... the sedans and coupes have a different carpet blueprint than the wagons.

only because the carpet is really really nasty and replacement carpet kits appeared pretty cheap.

If finding new carpet doesnt work you can clean your old one pretty easily after removing it.

The whole interior is washable. The seat covers come off and can be throw in the washer.

The carpet I would recomend taking out and using a nice brush on a broom handle clean it with laudry detergent. Ive had great results cleaning rugs and whatnot like this.

Leave it out in the sun for a couple days. If the carpets under 150$ I would just get a new one though.

You can buy a roll of auto carpet and get a stretcher / steamer and fit it to your wagon. Then just staple on the side plastic pieces and glue some foam underneath.
