3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
has anyone or does anyone know someone ever tried dropping a 1jz or 2jz into a 3rd gen ?
I don't know anyone, but please be the first to do it! I wondered about putting a 3UZ-FE 4.3L V8 from a Lexus GS 430 into my Gen 3, but decided to buy the GS instead. A *JZ sounds interesting though............DO IT!

I was about to get REALLY frustrated if this was another "is it possible to swap a camry to RWD" thread. OF COURSE IT IS! You just have to have skills and money. Lots of money. That being said... if you go through with it, awesome and good luck! I don't think anyone has tried before. At least not on a 3rd gen.

I kinda doubt it would fit, the 2jz is a long engine, and the V160 is a long tranny. You would have to do so much cutting and custom work that it may not even be a camry when you're done with it. But the 2JZ is one of the best motors ever made IMO. So i'm all for anyone trying to fit it into anything.

seen it done in a 7th gen celica which is an all around smaller car. monies is key.
Its possible. Everyone said you couldn't Make a honda prelude RWD with a front mounted motor, and there is one out there with the stock H22 motor in it, and a Ford rear end.
