USA New Rad Time, need some help

So my 98 5sfe has finally started leaking from the typical radiator crack. 127k so its expected I guess.

Either way I'm gonna be ordering new hoses, thermostat, rad cap and the rap from RockAuto. I just need some help picking out which one to order on there.

Im not to stingy on the price but I don't wanna pay more than I have to. Locally I can get a Spectra for 100 or one from a body parts supplier for 70.

Anyone have any idea on which one I should order?

Koyo! That seems to be the popular brand. I think ReadyRad (made by spectra I think) is also good. Be sure to SEARCH as there have been threads on this before and check for threads on rockauto coupons.

IME, Spectra Premium is a crapshoot. Maybe they're better now. If you think Koyo on eBay is very close to OEM pricing, then get one from an online Toyota dealer, but it's only a 1-year warranty.

I believe ReadyRad, TransPro, Modine are now under one name: Vista-Pro. Modine was what you used to get from NAPA and they should carry a lifetime warranty. If you can get a Koyo in a TYC branded box, then it's a good deal too. But there is no guarantee they'll put a Koyo in there.

Autozone's rads have lifetime warranty. Exchange is easy and no non-sense and no shipping for most people. So that may be another option for you.

Cool

I got my radiator today and it turned out to be a Koyo So its confirmed TYC from RockAuto is KoyoRad. Also Beck Arnley Thermostats are MotoRad(German made) and Stant Rad Cap are made in South Korea. Really, really great deals.

I could not be more satisfied with RockAuto. Fast shipping (2days), and no tax even though it was shipped in state. They accidentally bent a couple fins when they were packing the rad hoses in with the rad but hey, no ones perfect.

On a footnote, TYC are just repackaged parts. They sell most body parts and crash related things. Definitely not junk, my friend recently rebuilt his whole front end (volvo c70) after a crash with TYC parts and all of the stuff was equivalent of OEM.

Good to year you got a Koyo radiator.

Many of these distributors don't make all the parts, so they outsource what they don't make. (Beck Arnley is strictly a reboxer, like TYC). And some parts are actually OEM, like Beck Arnley head gaskets.
