98 V6 improvements

Hi - I'm new to the forum - in Australia. I have been trying to get a bit more out of my camry so I fitted lowered springs, KYB struts, slotted disc rotors, a whiteline rear sway bar, 17 inch wheels and matching tyres. This has improved the handling significantly.

As I really dont want to spend a huge amount on the car I have tried to cut weight rather than increase power. So - spare tyre, jack, boot liner, mud flaps, also a metal plate in each of the doors came out when i re trimmed the doors... a few other bits as well. I think I have lost about 80kg - which is only small but it is something.

I also cleaned the MAF and tightened up the transmission kick down cable and cleaned the throttle body... All of this together has made a good difference. The car is just a bit better in accelleration and stopping and it corners far better than before.

Thankyou to all the people who have posted their ideas and Write ups of how to do stuff, they have been a great help

Matthew

How many miles on the car?
The engines can last a while it's just how much you want to put into it if other things start falling apart.

220,000 km - so about 140,000miles. I do like tinkering, I did most of an auto mechanic apprenticeship - so I have tools... and a little knowledge but not specifically about this car - so I really appreciate all the info on this site.

I live about 180miles from the sea and we don't get snow & salt or other stuff on the roads to melt it - so my car has no rust at all.
