3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just an FYI. Consumer Reports is giving the highest rating to the Interstate Maga-Tron Plus MTP-24 battery. But it doesn't give it a recommendation because of it's price. But the best battery for the price is the EverStart Maxx-24N (North). Walmart is the only place that sells it.
Consumer Reports also recommends the others in the list with the check marks.

One even better than the one listed on this chart is an Optima Deep Cell battery. They run around $250 - $300.00 though so no one really buys them unless they got bunch o' money
Does anyone know if the red grease that repair shops spray on your battery terminals is call Di-Electric Grease ? Do you know if you should spray it on the battery terminals before you attach the battery connectors ? I saw some comments where some people say that it is a non-conductor and should never come between the connector and the battery terminals. They mention that you should spray it on the connection after the connector is connected to the battery.
I always buy toyota batteries, they seem great. Not sure who makes them, dont feel like going outside to look.
Pretty sure Johnson Controls makes them.

+1. Got mine for $220 plus tax. Proper group 35 version means I can share it between my Corolla, my dad's Camry, and a inverter/charger setup in my basement.
This must mean either CR didn't consider this battery, or it's not that good a value.

Cosumer Reports has an Optima battery for Group 34/78 and 78/78.
It is the Optima RedTop for $150. It was the third best in this group but they didn't give it a recommendation. Maybe because of the price.
Here is Group 34/78 and 78/78 and Group 65.

Best battery I ever had came in my 98 le 4cylinder... It was from Walmart of all places!!!
It lasted over 6 years! and never died.... until my parents borrowed it last week and I had to come get them on the side of the road as it didnt have enough amps left to turn the engine.
My Yellow Top is going on 8 years, two cars, one front end collision, and is still going strong. It doesn't matter what car needs a jump, it'll crank it up without breaking a sweat. I've even left my car sitting for 3 weeks straight, and it still started right up.

Dude I have always wanted your TOM'S CAI....where the hell did you get that....and what about a Red Top its a bit less than the Yellow Top...
I got the intake from another TN member a long time ago. The Red Top is good if you don't have a lot of electrical accessories in your car. It's meant only to start, and run an engine. The Yellow Top is for high power stereo systems, or a vehicle with a bunch of electrical equipment(CB radios/off road lights/winches...and so on).
