Coilover reliability...How long have they lasted you?
I still haven't upgraded my suspension yet and just wanted to see what you guys think about the longevity of your coilover setup. I"m still debating on a strut spring setup but I love the fact that coilovers are adjustible.
I have Ksport Kontrol Pro's Version 1 and they seem to be holding up pretty well, especially on some of the bad roads here in Socal. I've heard good reviews regarding the V2's, as well as other brands. After having both springs/struts and coilovers, I'll never settle for anything except coilovers.

Yea I don't want to regret getting a tokico/HR setup because it wasn't low enough. My area also has some harsh roads but i know most of the bad spots and would be able to avoid most of them. Are they extremely stiff like some people claim?
They're not too stiff, but I always prefer the harsh/firm ride. Compared to the Eibach/GR-2 setup I had previously, they're considerably stiffer but the rebound is much better. I have the damping turned up to roughly 28/32 full stiff, and 7kg, 5kg, front and rear respectively. I think with most companies, you can specify the spring rates you want, and they can have the valving of the shocks adjusted to match that.
On the other hand, I've ridden in my friend's Gen3 on Tein SS, and those felt softer than springs/struts. They only had adjustable ride height which changed preload (partially threaded) and damping. So it all depends on the coilover setup and how things are adjusted. But the quality of Tein's seem to be good, as they're made of steel rather than aluminum.
Nice, Tiens are just out of my price range. I don't mind a stiffer ride especially if my handling will be improved, I just don't want to feel like I'm driving over rocks all day. Is that your camry doing 3 wheel motion in a driveway on youtube?

Don't get me wrong though, I think the other Tein models are better and well worth it, but nothing else from that company is compatible with the Camry. I would suggest looking into other companies a bit more, just so you know what's offered.

Your car has the perfect drop, hopefully my gen 3 will be looking like this come this summer.
if you want longevity, i would stay away from D2 or ksport kontrol pros. with coilovers, you get what ya pay for. of course this also depends on the road conditions, setting of the coilovers and your driving habits.
I had ksports that had been rebuilt once in their life and they lasted for about 3 months, but had quite a few miles on them. I now have ISC coilvers and they seem MUCH better. nearly 20K on them now and no issues thus far. In the past that is where K sports and d2 started to ware out and brake valves.
i would ONLY go for the coilovers if you are willing to buy good ones and really want the height adjusability along with the far superior handeling they offer to a spring strut combo. if this doesnt sound liek you, then a descent spring strut combo will outlast the coilovers.
they are only listed for the solara i got them new from a mamber on solaraguy. they are a popular brand with WRX guys and are assie based brand i believe. so far as i know, im the only person with these. but they are a good example of my point. they are $1500 for a set new and the build quality is much better then my old Ksports. however, teh ksports do have alot of features for teh money. I would recommend the K sports to anyone who doesnt drive their car as a DD.

Yea my car is a daily driver and after reading up on coils I've seen many people claiming that d2's were way better than ksports. They're both in the same price range but i don't have a clue about which ones are better. Are your ISC from a gen 3 solara? Was still an easy install? I'm going to look into these.
D2s are usually reguarded as the bargin coilover for our rides, just below the K sport kontrol pros. install of any coilovers that fit is very easy and requiers fairly simple tools. the one thing that is nice about the D2 and k sports is that they have camber adjustment on the fronts. this makes dialing in your look and handeling that much easier.
Decisions, decisions..... I don't think I'm willing to buy $1500 coiliovers if I'm not sure they will fit. I'm wondering has anyone been on coilovers for 50k miles+
Im picking up a set of ksports soon. The camry will still be a daily but the roads here arnt that bad at all. just in certain areas but i know how to avoid most of the areas anyways.
also i have thought since i already have tokicos maybe just get ground control coil sleeves. but still not sure. Im not wanting crazy stiffness. just a little stiffer and to tuck the front end a little more.
