Yea, that's a strange one for sure..........Maybe by a strange coincidence a wire broke in the door boot (i'm guessing the drivers door) and this is affecting one function on both doors. Try holding the lock button down and swinging the door all the way open and all the way closed and see if the locks kick in. Also try holding the lock button down and try squeezing, pushing and pulling the boot between the car body and door to see if the locks kick in. If they do, you have a broken wire inside the boot.
