Gas door does not spring open any more

Does anyone have a picture with their gas door open?

It looks like there was a plastic tab that used to spring the door open. This is broke and the door doesn't "pop" now.

Anyone else come across this? What was your fix? I may have to add a spring, or a small piece of spring steel.

Thanks.

look inside the door and you will see a black plastic tab. the spring is broken off. you can get them at your local Toyota dealers for about 5-7 bucks and it takes like 30 seconds to install, not a big deal.

very common problem with a very easy fix. like kcmobmx said, it takes like 30 seconds to fix. $4.60 MSRP.

mine broke about 2 weeks ago... I got the replacemet part at my dealer for about $3 (they usually keep it in stock) and it just pops right on.

Just in case anyone need pictures. Here's some from my Gen 4. There are really no instructions for it; just pop on and off. I did however have to open the filler door/cap at 45 degree to pop the clip off from the hinge. Then slide it out and it'll fall off. The new one go on reverse order; slide on, pop in. I think the part number is 77360-33020.

You can see the spring on the hing (brass color)

Thanks for the information. Time to go shopping at the dealer. I rarely go there, except for things like this. I don't mind, there is a older gentleman that works at the parts counter and is great to deal with.
