K&N Replacement Filter?

You think the 2.2L gets better MPG with the K&N drop in replacement?

Doubt it, I only got one because it never has to be replaced.

And if it goes "ape-shit" how does that effect your life? You've already wasted 10 second of you life by clicking on the subject, and 10 more by replying. Why did you bother?

LoL

Do a search on K&N filters. I believe there is still ongoing debate about the drop in filter. Good or Bad search on it!

Just to save everyone the hassle, K&N = More flow because of less filtration. Take your paper filter, drill some holes in it and dip it in oil. That's the basic idea of K&N.

Oil filters leave a film of oil on all the sensor on the intake pipe. You dont wanna know how many times ive diagnosed lean and rich codes for it to turn to just be a dirty MAF.

All cars come with free flowing cold air intakes from the factory. ANYTHING you do is just to change the sound. On the 2.2l you can do a free simple resonator delete and your engine will sound a bit more throaty.

If you want good MPG drive slow and stick with your walmart paper filter.

I was trying to keep the peace and prevent any flaming, but it is obvious to me now that you were looking for it.

It doesn't affect any of our lives, but excuse me for trying to stomp out the hate that was about to ensue. There's already a thread that may have been locked about this topic, but was numerous pages of hate fueled hate.

yeah, as above K&N provides slightly more flow for less filtration (like 1/2 of OEM filter) so you decide if that's worth it.
if you race your car on track and look for every possible mod to get more "flow" then go for it, but K&N WILL MAKE INTAKE dirty with oil (and all sensors in it).
otherwise forget about it and get a OEM/FRAM/Purolator/whatever paper insert.

Really, dammit, I bought it when I had the placebo effect of giving me +15hp. I'm gonna replace it with an OEM or whatever when I have the chance.

yeah hehe, I had a FRAM ToughGuard (oily air filter insert) for some time (a year or so) in past on the 5s-fe ... it's totally not worth it on a daily driver.

... and oh man you don't wanna know how many times I had to clean the TB & IAC to make it right hehe.

I WANT TO ARGUE ABOUT STUFF! lol

just kidding

I actually am running basic filters in my 92, 92, 93 and have a cone filter for my 95. I see no difference in acceleration, fuel mileage, etc.

The cone filter makes the car sound a little more throaty on acceleration but thats about it

That could be the case for excessive buildup in the plenum. I think the filter is out of oil, so its okay to use it for now.

Thank you. That's what I wanted to hear. I know I had dirty MAF in my old Tacoma, but I could have just cleaned it and been good.

I did try title searching K&N, but came up with no hits.

you won't get any MPG or acceleration improvement. Less maintenance and maybe better filtration. That's it.
